信託是一項高規格的法律安排，信託成立人(即資產貢獻者或稱委託人)將所持資產轉讓給受託人(通常是專業信託公司)，信託公司以法律授予的權力及以受益人最大的利益妥善地管理資產。信託受到高程度的國際認可，所有人不能異議*，絕少信託個案可以被攻擊。信託資產及個人及受益人資料既安全，又保密。

受益人是委託人(即資產貢獻者) 拿出財產信託所要照顧的對象**，讓受益人因信託而最終得利益的人。

受益人是信託被視為成立有效性之一。所以成立的時候是必須提供誰是受益人。

受益人可以是任何人(家人、親戚、朋友、同事、寵物、慈善機構、未出生的子女或子孫)，也沒有人數限制**。

一旦委託人故離世，信託公司會參照委託人生前所訂立的意願及比例，依據信託契約的條款，嚴格執行分派資產予受益人**。

UniTrust 的信託契約條款中列出，委託人去世後，受託人有酌情權清算信託資產並將其分配給受益人。除非另有說明，如果受益人不止，信託資產應平均分配給受益人。

委託人成立信託的時候，需要提供以下受益人的資料:
